The value of the college visit
The College Consortium encourages families to make college visits starting in high school.
We also understand that there are limitations due of time and finances for most students and families.
Having visited over 200 colleges and universities allows us to offer an invaluable resource in the admissions process.
When we visit institutions, we physically see the campuses and dormitories, listen to academic presentations, visit the surrounding college community and observe the overall feel of the campus and students, providing the student and family a contextual understanding of the college's profile.
Current information and trends gleaned by attending information sessions,
touring the campuses, meeting with admissions offices as well as observing campus life
helps us share a more accurate understanding of a university that may not be apparent on a website. The campus layout, the proximity to a metropolitan area and the role that each college holds historically within the community is unique to each institution, all important factors for a student to consider.
During the assessment meeting with students, we review what factors are of greatest importance to students and families. Student's academic record and future academic interests, help tailor a college list.
